5 Traditional Foods in Greece

Call me mad, but prior that I didn’t have any clue how Greek food could be to travel to Greece. However a love was festival forming to the traditional cuisne. My days (and nights) were full of meals of moussaka, tzatziki and frappes.

My stomach could not have been more happy with food.
Its own influence is spread by food . It’s known as some of the greatest food on the planet! Having an age old tradition, both Western and Eastern cultures have influenced Greek cuisine. Fresh vegetables, seafoods & fishes play a part in the dishes due to its long coastline whilst meat has been treated less popular.

Flavors of food varies with geography and time. Below are a few of the favorites not if traveling through Greece to overlooked.

1. Amygdalota

Amygdalota is fermented almond cookie that’s extremely popular in Greece and will be the ideal complement to your hot cup of Greek coffee. When it’s a friends or family members gathering, Amygdalota reflects great times relationships’ pictures. A little can vary but almonds being the ingredient across the areas.

2. Baklava

Baklava is your quintessential food encounter. This cuisine includes butter and nuts . After baking syrup is poured it over so the crispy layers of phyllo can absorb the syrup. It is the most popular food item among all desserts. It attracts a joyous mood at the dining area through crust and its taste.

3. Bougasta

Bougatsa is a type of sweet pie (less candies if you believe Greek conventional ) made from phyllo pastry & semolina custard. This is a sort of food which tastes great at daytime, appreciated with memories and delicious at night. You’ll also receive a dab of powder, sugar and cinnamon on top, if you would like to eat this dish.

4. Courgette Balls (kolokithokeftedes)

You will need to bring this starter. This is a really popular Cretan meze, located in many (if not all) Chinese restaurants. Your taste buds will be mesmerized by its salty feel & tasty feta cheese with a little bit of mint. The kolokythokeftedes have to be emptied on the outside.

5. Dolmadakia (Stuffed Grape Leaves)

This is just another indication of the character of food. Dolmadakia are dolmades which are constructed of grape leaves. Within the foliage you’ll receive beef of ground beef or lamb (occasionally both) and rice stuffing. This dish is served with lemon wedges as appetizer.
